Independent technical leadership for founders and investors.

Technical matters, seriously.

Tamás Szigeti

Tamás Szigeti Founder, engineering leader, architect

Twenty-six years of building software and leading the teams that build it, at startups, scale-ups and companies of my own. I made most of the expensive mistakes early, back when they were cheap. I still read the code before I form an opinion. I work by the day, with founders and investors who need judgement rather than another pair of hands: an honest answer, unfiltered and to the point, and the reasoning behind it. Whatever I touch, I leave better than I found it. Home is a lake in Hungary; the work is wherever you are.

Most of what goes wrong with software was decided, not typed.

I'm there for the deciding, and for the re-deciding.

Lead it
Fractional CTO
Your product has outgrown its first architecture, your team has outgrown its first habits, and the decisions ahead deserve a second pair of senior eyes. I take the technical direction: architecture, hiring, roadmap, the AI features that have to survive real users, and the conversations with your board that need an engineer in the chair. A CTO who still reads the code.
For founders and boards without a technical peer.
Judge it
Technical Due Diligence
You're about to bet on software you can't see inside: an investment, an acquisition, a round you're preparing to raise. I audit the code, the architecture, the team and the AI claims, and tell you what's solid, what's theatre, and what it would take to fix. The verdict comes with reasons, not just a grade.
For investors deciding and founders preparing.
Solve it
Hard Problems
Something in your stack, your team or your process has stopped yielding to the usual effort: a migration nobody dares start, a system nobody fully understands, an AI feature that hasn't yet earned its users' trust, a process built for five that now carries thirty. Or nothing is broken and you simply want it excellent. I get to the root, design the way through, and leave your people a plan they can run with.
For teams that are stuck, and teams that are good and want to be better.

In their words

“He can design simple solutions for complex problems whilst always keeping an eye on the big picture. As a result, he can anticipate and proactively act on bottlenecks that are far in the future.”
— Jose Granja Martinez · reported to Tamás · now at Stripe
“He struck a fine balance between providing guidance and empowering team members to explore their own solutions. I particularly admired his involvement in infrastructure discussions, where he offered invaluable insights beyond his area of responsibility.”
— Max Stockdreher · worked alongside Tamás at Lingoda

Tell me where things stand.

A few lines, however rough. I'll answer, however honest.
